Warnings from the Gospel
PRESENTED BY STEVE MARLOWE, EVANGELIST
1. “...Satan, who deceives the whole world...” (Rev. 12:9).
2. “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).
3. “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them”
(2 Corinthians 4:3-4).
So what do we make of these warnings from the Gospel? “But He answered and said, ‘It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4). Therefore, if we abide by the teachings and traditions of men, though we may call ourselves Christians, we are only fooling ourselves. If we deny the revelation and doctrines of God, the Lord calls us, “Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men’” (Matthew 15:7-9). God revealed His name, but we have a name not of God, but fabricated by men. Shouldn’t we know the revealed name of our salvation?
QUESTIONS THAT LEAD TO SALVATION IN CHRIST
Question 1:
(In Luke 1:31 and Matthew 1:21) What was the name the angel Gabriel gave on two separate occasions, once to Mary and later to Joseph, the very name to be given to the Messiah? Hint: the name of “Jesus” was not known until the 17th century.
Answer:
In our Christian churches we have hymnals giving praises to Jehovah and Jesus, and we are taught that the name of salvation is Jesus. One can hear the refrain “there’s something about that name.” Unfortunately, few stop to consider the authenticity of the name “Jesus.” Historically, the name of Jesus was never the Savior’s revealed name. This calling on the name of Jesus has been an error for the past 400 years! As a result most rely on a Latinized name that could not have possibly existed in the first 1,600 years after Christ lived on earth. Again, the name of Jesus has only existed in its present form for the last 400 years!
Historian Ernest Renan, a scholar with knowledge in archaeology, in his book, THE LIFE OF JESUS, he doubts that the Savior ever spoke Greek, a language mainly used in cosmopolitan circles of business and commerce, and hardly spoken by Jews in the first century, but most importantly, he stated, that the Savior was never known in His lifetime by the name of Jesus. Nor did His disciples ever call Him “Jesus”. The name of Jesus was not invented by man until the 17th century (c.e.).
Question 2:
Is the name of Jehovah the revealed name from God?
Answer:
The name of Jehovah is a known hybrid name, which came into existence, first in a scholarly work by Raymondus Martini, in his book “Pugio Fidei”, circa 1270, introducing the hybrid name of Iehova, and later due to the ignorance of Roman Catholic clerics, who did not know the Jewish practice of adding vowels from another word, mainly such words as “Eloah” and “Elohim”, and thus causing this erroneous name Jehovah. The vowels of “Eloah” (e-o-a) produce the false euphonious name of Jehovah, and the Y, which corresponds to the Hebrew letter Yod, changed to the letter J from the I, and the vowel e replacing a, etc., and the vowels of Elohim producing the false name of Jehovih.
(see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words #3068 and #3069).
The false name of Jehovah was broadly propagated by a Roman Catholic priest Peter Galatin, Confessor to Pope Leo X, around circa 1520 A.D.. (Pope Leo X allegedly said, “It has served us well this myth of Christ”).
The “printing press” was just around the corner, which gave wide spread knowledge of this erroneous name Jehovah. In the year 1440, goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, which started the Printing Revolution, and by 1500, printing presses in operation throughout Western Europe had already produced more than twenty million volumes. In the 16th century, with presses spreading further afield, their output rose tenfold to an estimated 150 to 200 million copies. The false name of Jehovah was placed in many Bibles causing widespread familiarity with this euphonious, erroneous name, which was never revealed or approved by God of the Bible.
Question 3:
Can man name God?
Answer:
No. For this reason, mankind does not have dominion over God, as it is written: “Then God (Elohim) said, ‘Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion...over every living thing that moves on the earth’” (Genesis 1:26a-28b). “Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name” (Genesis 2:19). Man is given dominion over the animals, which gave man the right to name them. Conversely, man has no dominion over God, therefore, man has no right to name God. Moses knew this for he would not make up a name for God, therefore he asked God for His name. “Then Moses said to God, ‘Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name? what shall I say to them?’ And God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM (HAYAH ASHAR HAYAH).’ And He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM (YAH) has sent me to you.’ Moreover God said to Moses, ’Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This (I AM=YAH) is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations’” (Genesis 3:13-15). The essential name for God is “I AM,” literally “YAH.” We say, “Halleluyah”, which means, “Praise YAH!” Behold, the name which is above every name, “YAH!” And... “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain” (Exodus 20:7). It would be a vain thing indeed to replace the very revealed name of God.
Question 4:
Does it really matter if God’s revealed name has been changed via the linguistics (languages) of mankind to an entirely different name? Since God has revealed His name, can there be another name? Or, can there be another name caused by humans thereby causing a substitute name not revealed name from Heaven, and can this substitute name still be legitimate and acceptable to God? God has revealed the name of His Son by which we must be redeemed, so can we use another name not revealed by God? Can we replace the revealed name of salvation?
Answer:
“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). Since God has once revealed the name of salvation, there cannot be another name caused by man as a substitution for the revealed name from Heaven! God has revealed the name of His Son, so we must not use another name never revealed by God! Any other name is of Satan!
Question 5:
God knows who we mean when we say, “Jesus,” so why can’t we replace the revealed name of salvation according to the language we speak?
Answer:
The apostle Peter made a clear statement and filled with the Holy Spirit, he testified, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Peter never knew the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is a substitution for the revealed name of YAHSHUA. Any counterfeit name (Jesus, Iesus, Iesous, Yeshua, Joshua, Isa, even the pronunciation of Hey-zeus), is unacceptable to God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). Finally, every language is to know the one name revealed from Heaven by which we must be saved, which acknowledges the name above every name, as the apostle Paul testified, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Messiah is LORD, to the glory of God the Father”
(Philippians 2:9-11).
Therefore, to all priests, pastors, and teachers:
“If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name, Says the Lord of hosts, ‘I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, Because you do not take it to heart’”
(Malachi 2:2).
Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA!
“Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name Yah, and rejoice before Him” (Psalm 68:4 NKJV).
“Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV).
Therefore with joy you will draw water
From the wells of salvation.
And in that day you will say:
‘HALLELUYAH’ (Praise the YAH), call upon His name;
Declare His deeds among the peoples,
Make mention that His name is exalted” (Isaiah 12:2-4).
THE NEW CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: (UNDER YAHWEH) “Judging from Greek transcriptions of the sacred name, YHWH… The pronunciation Jehovah was unknown in ancient Jewish circles, and is based upon a misunderstanding of the scribal practice of using the vowels of the word(s) [eloah producing Jehovah and elohim producing Jehovih] with the consonants of YHWH” (p. 1065, 1967 ed.).
THE REVISED STANDARD VERSION: “The form Jehovah is of late medieval origin; it is combination of the consonants of the Divine Name and the vowels attached to it by the Masoretes but belonging to an entirely different word. The sound of Y is represented by J and the sound of W by V, as in Latin. The word Jehovah does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew” (The Preface, pp. 6-7).
