THE NEW TESTAMENT Testifies to the Name of Salvation
Steve Marlowe
There must be a clear distinction between the personal name of the Savior and the descriptive names. According to the apostle Peter’s testimony, there is only one name given under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), however, in the world there are several names given that supposedly are His names, however, according to the New Testament there is only one name. These names do not come from God, such as Jesus, a name that has only existed since the 17th century. The name Jesus was added to the Bible in the year 1628 AD, and before Jesus, it was Iesus, a Latin name found in the 1611 English King James Version, which comes from the Greek name Iesous, which is a transliteration of the Aramaic name Yeshua. Despite these counterfeit names, and based on in-depth study, the true name of the Savior has been found. In the verses below, we have two to three names mentioned at the time of the Savior’s birth, however, there is only one personal name given from heaven. There, in these verses of the New Testament, as found in the Gospel According to Matthew, are names attributed to Him. We will find the true revealed name of the Savior restored, for we read, “Now the birth of YAHSHUA the Messiah was as follows: After His mother, Mary was betrothed to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her betrothedhusband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name YAHSHUA, for He will save His people from their sins.’ So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel,’ which is translated, ‘God with us’” (Matthew 1:18-23). There seems to be another descriptive name by which He would be known: “But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, ‘He shall be called a ‘Nazarean’” (Matthew 2:22-23).
Within the New Testament, the name of YAHSHUAis revealed as the Savior’s personal name and the only name by which we must be saved. And the descriptive names of Emmanuel and a Nazarean are not personal names. It is in the personal name of YAHSHUA, “And in His name, the Gentiles will hope” (Matthew 12:21). All those who come preaching the gospel in the name of YAHSHUA are blessed. “Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD; Hosanna in the highest!” The Savior has been given the name which is above every name {YAH}. And the Savior said, as found in Matthew 23:39, “for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” After all, the angel Gabriel commanded Mary to call her Son YAHSHUA, “Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name YAHSHUA’” (Luke 1:30-31). This was a commandment from the LORD via the angel Gabriel. “And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called YAHSHUA, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb” (Luke 2:21). The importance of knowing the revealed name of the Messiah for our redemption is absolutely crucial, “and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:47).
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). “But these are written that you may believe that YAHSHUA is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31).
Knowing the name of the Savior is essential, for, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass Thatwhoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Men of Israel, hear these words: YAHSHUAof Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—“(Acts 2:20-22). The early church baptized only in the name of YAHSHUA, “Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of YAHSHUA the Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.’ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, ‘Be saved from this perverse generation’” (Acts 2:38-40). Knowing the revealed name from heaven, and baptized in the name of YAHSHUA, the very name of the Savior will save us. The apostle Peter testified, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). We know that God never revealed the names: Jesus, Gesu, Iesus, Isa, or Iesous, all counterfeit names, all names that exist as a result of linguist evolution.
The Lord chose the apostle Paul to preach the gospel in the name of YAHSHUA. He was a persecutor of the followers of YAHSHUA. Ananias, a disciple, was fearful to meet Paul, “But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake’” (Acts 9:15-16). Again, it is by the name of YAHSHUA that we, who believe on His name, received salvation. “And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins” (Acts 10:42-43). The Lord YAH said, “‘After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says the Lord {YAH}who does all these things.’ Known to God from eternity are all His works” (Acts 15:16-18). “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16). The apostle Paul spoke boldly in the name of YAHSHUA, so much so, that the high priest Ananias said of him, “For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazareans” (Acts 24:5).
In Romans 10:8-15, we read, “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the LordYAHSHUA and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’”
YAHSHUA is the true name of the Savior because His name has “the name which is above every name,” as found in the expression: “Halleluyah,” “Praise YAH.” YAH is the name which is above every name. Shua in Hebrew means “My help,” as in “my salvation.” YAH and shua combined represent the meaning and true revealed name of the Savior. There is no other name (Acts 4:12). No matter what language one may speak, one must conform to this name of salvation, the very name YAHSHUA!Because the name Jesus was never revealed by God and has only been in the Bible since the 17th century, we will use the revealed name of YAHSHUA. Listen to the testimony of the apostle Paul: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11). The apostle Paul knew very well that the Messiah has “the name which is above every name” {YAH} because heard it. He gave this testimony to king Agrippa, “While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am YAHSHUA, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewishpeople, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn themfrom darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me’ (Acts 26:12-18). We know, as scholars acknowledge, the name YAH, which means I AM, and this was revealed to Moses. “Then Moses said to God, ‘Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them? And God said to Moses, “HAYAH ASHAR HAYAH” (“I AM WHO I AM”). And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ Moreover God said to Moses, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations’” (Exodus 3:13-15). The essential name of God is YAH, I AM, and this name is to be His memorial to all generations. YAH, this is the name which is above every name, and every language, tongue is to know this one and only revealed name. Just as the apostle Paul heard and saw on the road to Damascus the very revealed name of YAHSHUA. The apostle Paul wrote to the church at Philippi, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUAevery knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and thatevery tongue should confess that YAHSHUA theChrist is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). There is only one name given for our salvation, the name of YAHSHUA! Now that the gospel is delivered once to the saints, it is not to be altered, changed, or transformed, and that includes His revealed name, YAHSHUA. “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister” (Hebrews 6:10). “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. (Hebrews 13:15).
“If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.” (1 Peter 4:14). And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son YAHSHUA the Messiah and love one another, as He gave us commandment. Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us” (1 John 3:23-24). “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13).
We, the Nazarean Ministry of YAHSHUA, testify to the name YAHSHUA, the very revealed name of the Savior. Anyone who denies the revealed name of the Savior is in jeopardy. Clearly, the Savior does not want anyone to deny His revealed name, for those who do not deny His name, He says to that one, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name” (Revelation 3:8).
In YAHSHUA’S Name, Amen.
Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA!
