CHRIST IS THE ONLY “I AM” (YAH)

STEVE MARLOWE, EVANGELIST

What is the true name of Salvation?

According to the prophets:

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.’”

(Isaiah 12:2 NKJV)

Sing to God, sing praises to His name;
Extol Him who rides on the clouds,
By His name Yah,
And rejoice before Him.

(Psalm 68:4 NKJV)

The apostle Peter testified, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Would you not want to know the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved? The name of salvation is found in the expression Halleluyah, which means “Praise YAH.” “I AM” (YAH), the name for God first revealed by God to Moses (Exodus 3:14). Our Savior has identified this YAH as part of His true revealed name for our salvation, “YAHSHUA;” however, most of the people in His time would have mistakenly called Him by a commonly known and similar sounding name “Yeshua,” this Aramaic name was a well-known name among the Jews in the time of Christ. Because the Jews for centuries have hidden the name YAH (YHWH), some scholars have thought the name YAHSHUA to be a Philological impossibility. Philology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the structure, historical development, and relationships of a language.  With the exception of the expression “Halleluyah,” the Jews have succeeded in hiding the name of God, and therefore, the true and only name of Christ, the very name YAHSHUA, is relatively unknown. The name Jesus, a 17th-century invention, was never revealed to us from Heaven, however, Christ’s only name YAHSHUA is His true name revealed from Heaven. The name YAHSHUA has the meaning, “I AM Salvation”. The eminent historian Ernest Renan acknowledges that the Savior was never in His lifetime known as “Jesus” (Life of Jesus, p. 90). The angel revealed to Joseph the name YAHSHUA, saying, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name YAHSHUA, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). This is a commandment by God, “...you shall call His name YAHSHUA, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Satan, that great counterfeiter, has given the world a substitute name for Christ, because “...Satan, who deceives the whole world...” (Revelation 12:9), does not want you to know the true name of Salvation. “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). The gospel is clear, the name and the Person of Christ are equally to be known to accept the free gift of salvation, for righteousness can only come by your faith in the Person and the name of salvation YAHSHUA.

One might say, “If I don’t believe in the name of YAHSHUA, what does it matter?” The essence of the gospel is the good news of salvation. If mankind puts conditions on how we are to receive salvation, that is called legalism, but if God puts conditions on how we are to receive salvation, that is called revelation. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). God’s condition, not man’s, is to believe in the only name of salvation, the name of the only begotten Son of God, who has the name given from heaven, YAHSHUA. To outright reject the very revealed name of Christ, whose only name is YAHSHUA, is to stand condemned already. So it would be to your detriment to say, “I speak English, so I say, ‘Jesus!’” A statement that has no bearing on the revelation of God, and that kind of thinking leads to destruction.

In the Gospel of John, YAH occurs several times, and these usages have been the subject of significant Christological studies, and yet no scholar dares to challenge the use of the name Jesus by the church. The name Jesus is an erroneous name, which was never revealed by God, but is the result of linguistic evolution (Yeshua to Iesous, Iesous to Iesus, Iesus to Jesus), as prescribed by the tradition of men, and therefore, this name, Jesus, is devoid of any real meaning, and certainly has no meaning of salvation, and most important, it was never revealed from Heaven.

The meaning of “I AM” {YAH} relating to God’s name, YHWH, appears over 300 times in the Bible, first in the book of Exodus 3:14, however, in the New Testament it is not the erroneous name Jesus, but the revealed name “YAH is Salvation,” YAHSHUA. This revelation has led to the Biblical God sometimes being referred to as “the great ‘I AM’”. The expression “I AM,” which is pronounced “YAH,” relates to God as “the great ‘I AM’”, deserving our praise, as in YAH, correctly, we say, “Halleluyah,” which means, “Praise YAH,” is a worldwide expression of praise; but not many know that this is a praise to God’s name “YAH!” This is why it is important to write it correctly, Halleluyah. The incorrect spelling is Alleluia or Hallelujah. The Y corresponds with the Hebrew Yod, not the J.

It is to be understood as a self-declaration by Christ identifying Himself as YAH and therefore God. In John 8:24, YAHSHUA states: "For unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins!” Christ literally told us, “For unless you believe that I AM YAH, you will die in your sins!” His revealed name is YAH. At this announcement, the crowd, in Jerusalem, attempts to stone YAHSHUA. And the desire of the Jews to stone Him intensives in response to His follow up statement in John 8:58: "Before Abraham was, I AM", and indeed all Christian scholars agree that Christ is telling us plainly that He is YAH. This verse identifies Christ as the I AM, that He has the name which is above every name, YAH, as revealed in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament Exodus 3:14). Many other translations, including the American Standard Version, have rendered John 8:24 falsely as something like "... For unless you believe that ‘I am [He],’ you will die in your sins". There is no “He” in the original manuscripts of the New Testament. Our Savior did not say, “I am He,” but rather I AM, as in YAH. "I AM" in John 8:58 is a declarative statement, that YAHSHUA is the I AM (YAH), the name which is above every name (Philippians 2:9-11). Our Savior must have YAH in His Name! In truth the name of salvation can only be the name YAHSHUA! YAHSHUA means “I AM Salvation.” In both these verses, Christ was revealing to them that He is YAH, and therefore, Christ is our only God, to the glory of His God and Father, for it was the Father who gave all things to the Son. “The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand” (John 3:35). Because the Father gave all things to the Son, YAHSHUA, He has the right to claim all as our only God, indeed our only Rock (Isaiah 44:6-8; 1 Corinthians 10:1-4), for indeed there is no other Rock but YAH, who is our only salvation, YAHSHUA! When confronted with the importance that the sinner actually knows the name revealed by God, for it is by that name, YAHSHUA, and only by that name that we will have eternal life, however, as John 8:24 is rendered with the ‘He’, it diverts from the name of Christ to His Person, which is contrary to the gospel of Christ. And that is not what the Savior meant, He was identifying the very name given to Him by the Father, and the very name of our Salvation.

The unique expression of the Tetragrammaton, a fancy Greek word for the four letters, or consonants of God’s actual name: יהוה (YHWH), is that it is a noun derived from היה (HAYAH), in English the meaning is "the I AM," which becomes the supreme noun, for God’s essential name. YAH, the name which is above every name, and the name for all the world to know without change within their own language (Philippians 2:9-11). Translations often render YHWH in compliance with the tradition of the Septuagint, "Lord", which most English Bible translations follow with LORD, which obscurely, but, truly represents YHWH, the four consonants of God’s true name. At the time of the Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem around 605 BC, the Jews sought to hide the very name of God from the Babylonians specifically, and generally from the Gentiles. Later, as far back as 1100 AD, as the Jewish practice of adding vowels from the Hebrew word “Eloah” specifically (a word for “God”), to God’s name (YHWH) has also been pointed with the vowels from the word Elohim, which caused it to be transcribed as Jehovih, but more commonly with the vowels “e-o-a” from Eloah to form "Jehovah", however, the Tetragrammaton was vocalized in Hebrew as YAHAWAH, but secretively among Jewish clerics. Since the true name is YAH, then how did the name Jehovah become so widely known and accepted as the name for God? How does YHWH become JHVH, or ever IHVH? The quick answer is that man made the changes.

The Medieval Church was not aware of the Jewish practice of adding vowels to YHWH. It was Raymond Martini, a 13th-century Dominican friar and theologian in Spain, who first used the name Iehovah in his works. He is remembered for his polemic work Pugio Fidei (c. 1270), and it was in this work that he incorporated the erroneous name Iehovah, which is the first known appearance of this false name, Jehovah. He saw these vowel points on the name of God, YHWH, and not knowing the Jewish practice of adding vowels [e-o-a] from Eloah, he wrote for Y, an I, and replaced the ancient Hebrew W with a modern Hebrew sound of vav, ‘V,’ and he created the name Iehovah, and inadvertently, replaced the proper vowel ‘a’, with the vowel ‘e’, due to the added vowels. He caused the name to go from YAH to Ieh, which later became Jeh. Ironically, the ‘a’ remained in the expression, “Halleluyah”, however, now wrongly spelled, Hallelujah. All this confusion comes from one source, the Jewish practice of hiding the name of God, and the adding of vowels so that the readers in the synagogues would not attempt to say God’s name. Because of this, many will be confused and reject the only name of salvation, YAHSHUA! And so it is written, But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age (Satan) has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthian 4:3-4).

Later, the false name Jehovah was propagated by Peter Galatin, born Pietro Colonna Galatino (1460 – 1540), also known as Petrus Galatinus, was an Italian Friar, philosopher, and theologian. Pietro Galatino was born at Galatina, in Apulia, Italy. His vocation in life was mainly serving Pope Leo X. Pietro Galatino wrote, using his Latin name Petrus Galatinus, his chief work De Arcanis Catholicae Veritatis, at the request of the Pope, in 1516, due to the controversy on the authority of the Jewish extra-biblical writings allowing Galatinus to assume a very high-profile in his polemic writings. Galatinus resolved to combat the Jews on their own ground, he sought to turn the Cabbala against them in order to convince them that their own books yielded proof of the truth of the Christian religion, hence their opposition to it should be branded as obstinacy. Galatinus is referred to as the "inventor" of the Latinized pronunciation Jehovah, which came about due to the lack of knowledge of the Jewish practice blending the Tetragrammaton "YHWH" with the vowels of "Eloah." As Confessor to Pope Leo X, around 1520 AD, who, like the Spanish priest Raymond Martini, was unaware of the Jewish practice of adding vowels to the name of God to remind the readers in the synagogues not to pronounce the name, as a result they birthed the false name Jehovah. Galatinus examined the stolen Jewish Scriptures in the Vatican library, as these Scriptures were stolen from Jewish synagogues, as the original Old Testament in Hebrew did not have vowels in their words, but only consonants, and yet he saw the name of the Lord “YHWH,” with vowels! He gave his work in the form of a dialogue. The two conflicting Christian parties were represented by Capnio and the Inquisitor named Jacob.

Galatinus had borrowed largely from the book Pugio Fidei by the Dominican Raymondus Martini, remodeling the material and supplementing it with copious quotations from the Zohar and other writings. Again, this was all based on a misunderstanding due to the Jews not wanting the Gentiles to profane the name of God. When Christians, ignorant of the Jewish practice, saw vowels added as these Hebrew vowels [e-o-a] placed unknowingly from the Hebrew word Eloah, meaning God, which artificially produced the name of Jehovah, a concoction, now a false name for God, and the error was cemented. The name Jehovah is here today due to ignorance. This concoction became the birth of the false name Jehovah just as the printing press was on the rise leading to the extensive propagation of this erroneous, euphonious, name, starting in 1520 AD. And the name of Jesus was also formed around this time transforming from Iesus to Jesus. It is more evident, as we find also found in apposition, but with the vowels of elohim, producing another false name in Jehovih, see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words, # 3069. YAH is the only true expression of God’s name, which is qualified by the prefix, enhancing the meaning “YAH ever-present,” indeed, “YAHAWAH.” The suffix of “HAWAH” in God’s name meaning in Hebrew essentially “to be,” as in “ever existing,” (see Strong’s # 1934). The sinister part of the name Jehovah is “hovah,” which means in Hebrew, “ruin, mischief, and calamity (see Strong’s #3069). Because YAH is “the name which is above every name,” our Savior must have this name (YAH), as indeed the angel told Joseph, that you shall name Him, YAHSHUA, which means, “I AM Salvation.” Again, this was a commandment! The name Jesus was never commanded by God to be given to the Savior. The name Jesus was never revealed by God. The disciples of Christ never knew Him as Jesus, only YAHSHUA, which has a close sound to the common Aramaic name of Yeshua, however, many had this name “YAHSHUA.”

The bottom line is there can be no other name, as the apostle Peter has proclaimed: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The Savior’s name is YAHSHUA. “There is no other name!” YAH is “the name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9-11). Therefore, beware that you do not misunderstand the essence of the Gospel as encapsulated in John 3:16-18, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” As written in the New Testament, if you don’t believe in the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved, you are condemned already.

Shockingly, after two thousand years, only a few know the name of salvation, YAHSHUA, and these will, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). Can the Christian faithful rely on modern day pastors, teachers, to receive this truth of the true name of salvation, the very name YAHSHUA? Historically, and as the Bible testifies against the traditions of men, these Christian leaders will not lead you to the salvation that alone comes from YAHSHUA, but will continue in the “traditions of men,” which among other things holding to the names for God, that they made-up. They will hold to their traditions, just as the Jews, and their respective condemnation will be accordingly, as YAHSHUA stated when, “He answered and said to them, ‘Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men...’ He said to them, ‘All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition’” (Mark 7:6-9).

If you do not follow the commandments of God, you are practicing “Lawlessness!” YAHSHUA has warned them, as written in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Their rebuttal of doing things in His name will prove false, for they rejected the true name and the testimony of the apostle Peter given in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” But by rejecting the revelation and commandment of God, they have propagated, honored, and worshiped substitute names never revealed by God, Iesous, Iesus, and finally Jesus, due to crediting linguistics as the final authority rather than the revelation and commandment of God.

The apostle Peter testified in the name of YAHSHUA. How do we know this? The Sanhedrin reacted to Peter saying the name YAHSHUA, as they heard the name of God:

The Apostle Peter testifies to the Sanhedrin

“And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, ‘By what power or by what name have you done this? Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of YAHSHUA the Messiah of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.’”

The Name of YAHSHUA Forbidden, as the name Jesus was not known until the 17th Century, For they recognized the Name of God, YAH, which they sought to hide from the Gentiles.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with YAHSHUA. And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, saying, ‘What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.’ So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of YAHSHUA. But Peter and John answered and said to them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard’” (Acts 4:5-20). The Sanhedrin recognized in our Savior’s name, the name which is above every name, YAH, the very name they sought to hide, and that is why they commanded them not to speak to anyone in that name. There was already the common Aramaic name Yeshua, so it would make no sense to forbid to preach in that name, as it was already common among the Jews. These Jewish leaders heard the name of God, YAH!

THE APOSTLE PAUL Testified to the name YAHSHUA to king Agrippa

“While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am YAHSHUA, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me’” (Acts 26:12-18).

The apostle Paul heard the name which is above every name, YAH, for he told us, Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Every tongue, every language, is to know this revealed name from God. One’s language does not supersede the revealed name, YAH, from God! Every language is to know this one name revealed from God, and the only name of salvation is YAHSHUA!

In YAHSHUA’S name, Amen!
