“THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME”

Steve Marlowe, evangelist

Greetings in the name of the Lord,

Now let it be known: “Jesus,” a name that has only existed in its present form since the 17th century, is a name never revealed by God. In the 1611 English Bible, the name for Christ was not “Jesus,” it was “Iesus.” Iesus, a Latin name, comes from the Greek name Iesous. Iesous is a transliteration of the common Aramaic name “Yeshua,” which is considered by many to be the actual name of Christ. But is it? History tells us that Christ was never called “Jesus” when he lived, nor did His disciples ever know of the name “Jesus,” nor was He known or worshiped in the name of Jesus, which again, was never given to us by God. Historian Ernest Renan acknowledges that the Savior was never in His lifetime known as “Jesus” (THE LIFE OF JESUS, p. 90).

Major changes in the name Jesus obscure the real name once revealed by God.

WEBSTER’S NEW WORLD COLLEGE DICTIONARY: “’J’ n. 1. The tenth letter of the English alphabet; formerly a variant of ‘I’… in the 17th century it became established...” (p. 775). This is why we hold to the letter ‘Y’, and not ‘J’, or ‘I’, in Halleluyah. The English letter ‘Y’ equals the Hebrew letter ‘Yod.’

Why does it matter?

The apostle Peter states, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

NO OTHER NAME! The apostle Peter never testified to the name “Jesus!” And if there is only one name accepted by God, then why do we use other names such as, Jesus, Iesus, Iesous, Yeshua, Isa, and not to mention the Spanish pronunciation, “Hey-zeus?” Since the above names were never revealed by God as the true name of Christ, they are counterfeit names! God gave us a name, the revealed name; however, man gave us a different name, indeed names, based on linguistic evolution caused by man alone.

Who put the name “Jesus” in God’s Holy word, the Bible, when God never revealed the name Jesus? Hint: It was not God.

God commanded, “You shall not take the name of the LORD {YAH}your God in vain, for the LORD {YAH} will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain” (Exodus 20:7). What greater way to take the LORD’S name in vain then to use a counterfeit name for God, as now is used by the traditions of men and not according to the revelation of God. “YAH” is “the name which is above every name.”

The Savior responded, for, “He answered and said to them, ‘Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men— He said to them, “All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition (Mark 7:6-8). The name “Jesus” has as its origin from man, not God, and is sustained by the tradition of men, which defies the commandment of God. In Matthew 1:21, The commandment of the Father is “...you shall call His name YAHSHUA for He will save His people from their sins.” The name “Jesus” did not exist in the 1st century!

The name Jesus does not mean salvation in any language. It would be arbitrary to say that the name Jesus literally means salvation, or “God saves.” There would be no etymological proof that Jesus means “God saves.” The revealed name of YAHSHUA means “YAH Saves!”

What is the true name of God?

“Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”And God said to Moses, (HAYAH ASHAR HAYAH) “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM {YAH} has sent me to you.’” Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord {YAH} God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations’” (Exodus 3:13-15). The name YAH is the essential name of God!

Behold ‘the name which is above every name,’ “YAH!”Halleluyah! Praise YAH!

But you say, “God has many names.” What you should say is, “God has many titles, such as “EL Shaddai.” Scholars recognize God’s personal name YAH. “I AM” in Hebrew is “YAH.” The LORD shows there is only one Personal name for God, which is YAH, Halleluyah, Praise YAH.

In Exodus 6:2-3, “And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I amthe Lord {YAH}. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as ‘God Almighty’ (EL Shaddai), but by My name Lord {YAH} I was not known to them.” God only has one name and many titles, therefore, do not be confused. God revealed to Moses His essential name, YAH!

Christ acknowledged that He was, and is, YAH, in John 8:58, YAHSHUA said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” I AM means YAH in Hebrew, and because there is no other name, YAHSHUA (YAH Saves) is to be known in every language.

The apostle Paul on the road to Damascus heard the true revealed name of the Savior, as He, Christ, spoke to him in the Hebrew language, and so Paul gives this testimony to king Agrippa: “While thus occupied, as I journeyed to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me. And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’ So I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am YAHSHUA, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ (Acts 26:12-18). He, the apostle Paul, heard the name “YAHSHUA!

How do we know that the apostle Paul heard the name of YAHSHUA?

Did the apostle Paul acknowledge that the Savior has “the name which is above every name,” the very name “YAH”?

The apostle Paul did hear YAH, for he testified to it. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Messiahis LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).Clearly, every tongue should confess “YAHSHUA!” Why did men replace the very revealed name of our Savior?

Is it not rightly the desire of every sincere Christian to worship in all truth? “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).

Was not the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved “once for all delivered to the saints?” Is not the name of YAH, the one and only name of salvation as delivered according to the Bible for all those who believe on His name? The Bible tells us that YAH is the only name of salvation, as stated:

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV).

“Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name Yah, and rejoice before Him” (Psalm 68:4 NKJV).

YAH is the only name of salvation, as proclaimed by the Word of God!

Remove the substitute, counterfeit, name of Jesus!

“Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers (priests, pastors, and teachers). But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send YAHSHUA the Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began” (Acts 3:17-21). It is time to restore the one name given under heaven by which we must be saved, behold, the name YAHSHUA! “And now, O priests (pastors and teachers), this commandment is for you.If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name,” Says the Lord of hosts, I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart” (Malachi 2:1-2). How can the leaders give glory to a false name? They must know the revealed name of our Lord and Savior.

The Person and the name of the Savior, YAHSHUA, are both essential. For this is the essence of the Gospel: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). The only name of the only begotten Son is YAHSHUA!

Do not think that this is written to condemn you, for in the past through the mercy of God, he blessed you despite your ignorance, just as He said on the cross in Luke 23:34, Then YAHSHUA said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” God’s love and mercy was given despite that (you), “they do not know what they do.” But now in the name of restoration of all things, repent, and know the revealed name of the Savior, YAHSHUA! It is demanded upon you now to know the revealed name of salvation. Did not YAHSHUA command to, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).

Now therefore, rightly given in Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord YAHSHUA, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Now be baptized in the name of YAHSHUA ! It is our prayer, that the revealed name given under heaven will be known, as the Lord has promised to make His name YAH known: “For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language,
That they all may call on the name of the Lord {YAH},
To serve Him with one accord” (Zephaniah 3:9).

In His Name, YAHSHUA, Shalom!
